Building Canada Fund

The Flood Protection Plan will be accepting applications for projects that may be staged, implemented and completed over the next four years, in association to the Building Canada Agreements. http://www.th.gov.bc.ca/BCFCC/index.htm

New Horizons for Seniors Program

This program is accepting applications for its Capital Assistance funding from August 30th until October 8, 2010. Eligible applicants include non-profit organizations that have been delivering community programs and activities for seniors for the last two (2) years. This includes seniors clubs, seniors' centres, ethnocultural organizations, service clubs, and Aboriginal organizations. Capital Assistance provides grant funding of up to $25,000 to non-profit organizations for upgrading community facilities and equipment related to existing programs and activities for seniors. EnviroFund™

In the spring of 2010, Vancity enviro Visa* cardholders voted on the issue areas they wanted the enviroFund™ to support. Thank you to all the Vancity cardholders who engaged in this process! We are pleased to announce that the following top two cardholder selected issue areas will be supported through enviroFund grants over the next year.

Sustainable Agriculture and Ecosystem Preservation and Restoration. Community groups will be asked to submit enviroFund™ project applications that address these issues and the best of these projects will be funded with grants ranging from $25,000 to $50,000.

Energy Efficiency and Solar Energy Projects in BC Remote and First Nations Communities

Remote and First Nations Communities are invited to participate in a two hour webinar on Energy Efficiency and Solar Energy Projects in BC Remote and First Nations Communities Wednesday, October 13th from 1-3PM.

The webinar will provide a general overview of community energy efficiency and solar project ideas, planning and community engagement, assessing your project and community priorities, opportunities and challenges in implementation and identifying community capacity and sources of funding. The purpose of this workshop is to inspire energy efficiency and solar energy solutions and to provide an opportunity to share project ideas with other community leaders and project experts. Registration is now open and there are limited spots. To register for the webinar, please send an email to Tanya Hebron at thebron@fraserbasin.bc.ca. The registration deadline is Friday, October 1st.
