While many Cowichanians hail a new advocate for seniors as a long overdue resource, people working on a daily basis with seniors are skeptical it's sufficient to handle the ever-increasing load of issues.

 And as funding for local seniors' non-profit organizations dwindles, those working in the trenches have become more and more frustrated by the lack of support.

Government should not appeal child
welfare ruling, says Crowder

 

The government has 45 days to respond to questions on the order paper.

Question on the Order Paper: 

As you may know, the government has cut funding to the popular Katimavik program that allows youth across Canada to gain valuable experiences and skills by volunteering with other youth to help build and complete community projects. Since its inception in 1977, more than 30,000 youth have taken part in the program.
